Birth injury lawyer, Oliver Thorne, has been shortlisted for the second year in succession for the Clinical Negligence Lawyer of the Year Award.
He was delighted to be nominated for the award and sees it as recognition of the compassion and empathy he shows towards his clients, especially those who have been the victim of a childbirth injury. Oliver prides hiimself on building a solid relationship with his clients so that he fully understands their case and the impact the medical accident has had on their lives and the lives of the loved ones around them. His approach to clinical negligence law puts warmth, kindness and compassion at the forefront, but above all, Oliver is known for simply listening to his clients.
Many of his clients come to him from personal referrals from across the country. He also has links with his local branch of head injury charity, Headway, and has recently been working with the Calvert Trust, a charity that offers outdoor pursuits for the disabled.
One birth injury client, who moved their case from another solicitor to our firm, supported his nomination by highlighting Oliver’s ability to make a positive difference to the lives of those who have suffered clinical negligence. They added:
"Oliver had a genuine empathy and teamed with his knowledge and professional manner, he quickly made us feel at ease. Oliver was able to make the transition of changing firms appear smooth, uncomplicated and as a result not at all stressful for us. Soon after, Oliver managed to quickly and efficiently obtain full admissions of liability on our cases, as well as securing a first interim payment for our son who sadly suffered a profound brain injury during his birth, proven as a direct result of medical negligence. The interim payment has since allowed us to provide Oliver with all of the help and support that he needs now and, in the future, subsequently halving our stress levels. Our Family would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Oliver Thorne and his team at Slee Blackwell for the outstanding support that has been provided to us during what was and continues to be a traumatic and difficult time.”
